He brought out the worst in her.

She absolutely hated the fact that he ruffled her feathers the wrong way, that his mere presence made her want to kick something. Hard.

And why, oh why, did he have to appear in the worst possible moments? Every time she was finally alone with Austria-san and the atmosphere was calm, peaceful, hopeful.. out of the blue, he appeared. And he made her loose her temper and act unladylike in front of her loved one.

Yes, she hated Gilbert. From the bottom of her heart, she loathed him. That ever-present superior smirk on his face, the way he looked down at her, the way he always, always, made her so mad. So.. livid.

Hungary loved Austria-san, more than words could describe. Their marriage might not have worked out as well as she had hoped, but her feelings never ceased. He was always calm and collected, he was polite and considerate towards her, he was sophisticated and musical, he was.. perfect.

Then, why..

Why did she call him, her beloved, Austria-san? Why did she call the red-eyed demon Gilbert?

That look, that triumph in his eyes made her blood boil. Adrenaline coursed through her veins like venom every time she thought about him. His over-confidence caused her sanity to disappear, made her head explode without any apparent logical reason.

His laugh, gosh, and that coarse language and curses he used, the amount of alcohol he could consume in seconds, the mere fact that his presence had such a huge impact on her every cell..

He brought out the worst in her, the side she never wanted others to see. He made her feel like.. herself.
